Bio of Matovnikov Alexander Anatolyevich (Wikipedia).
Born in 1965 in the family of a KGB officer.
In 1986 he entered the service of group A of the KGB of the USSR.
He took part in the war in Afghanistan, under the guise of border guards, group A intercepted caravans with weapons and drugs.
In 1987, he participated in the protection of soviet leader, Mikhail Gorbachev, who arrived in Washington on a state visit.
He took part in both Chechen wars, several special operations, including in the North Caucasus.
Member of operation at the White House in 1993. He was one of the leaders of the assault on the hospital in Budyonnovsk in 1995.

He participated in the anti-terrorist operation at the Nord-Ost on Dubrovka in 2002.
Investigated the circumstances of the storming of a school in Beslan in 2004.
Chechen terrorists called him the nickname "Chekist". He served as the head of the 2nd department of the 1st department of the Office “A” and the first deputy head of the Office “A” (Alpha).

After serving at Alpha for about 30 years, in 2013 he was transferred to work at the Ministry of Defense, and was appointed deputy commander of the Special Operations Forces of the Main (Intelligence) Directorate of the General Staff of the RF Armed Forces. In 2015, he was appointed commander of the Special Operations Forces and deputy chief of the Main Directorate of the General Staff of the Armed Forces of the Russian Federation. Also at command posts, he took part in the Russian military operation in Syria.

In 2017, in the rank of major general, he was awarded the title "Hero of the Russian Federation", in his own words, "for Syria."
